Description
Neat and unusual, very early, wooden 2-sided doctor’s office hanging wooden trade sign for Dr. Cross, whose specialty was treating "Diseases of Women, Kidney and Venereal Troubles". Has a nicely weathered all original sand paint finish w/ an excellent, rich untouched surface patina, giving it a great primitive country look (sand paint finish was done on a canvas like material on the wood). Note: the letters "EAL" are still quite bright on both sides compared to the rest of the sign and don’t show the natural signs of weathering or aging that the rest of the sign has taken on (the towns people probably objected to the idea of venereal troubles being promoted on the sign and made them cover over those three letters).
